The SAT, LSAT and MSAT would cower in comparison to the VSAT or as we refer to it at V-Rated our Venue Critique Form. Thousands of event hours and event experience have gone into the creation of the critique form; not to mention the duly noted challenges and “oh, I’ll never forget to ask that again” moments that happen from time to time during events. Our 1660 point (and growing) form asks the questions event planners need to know and non-event planners might not know to ask.

We use a rating scale of 1-10 in order to obtain a finer level of rating but then do some high level mathematical calculations to bring it to you in a scale of 1-5. You might notice that all the venues on V-Rated score a 3 out of 5 or higher and you might think it is a coincidence or even better – rigged – but unfortunately it is nothing as fantastic as that. We just feel that we wouldn’t want to hold an event in a venue that rates 2 out of 5, so why include them on the website? We still heart the venues that don’t make the cut ,and we offer them suggestions on how they could bring up their score (like ditch the shag carpeting), and the opportunity to be re-critiqued.

If, after perusing the listing and the Critic Critique of the venue that has piqued your interest, you find that you require additional information feel free to contact the venue or Critic directly.

Rating Scale

It is our goal at V-Rated to provide the most comprehensive venue critique possible. The critique form asks for both quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data means hard, measurable and verifiable data; for example, dates, prices or the rating out of five one gives an item. Quantitative data defines whereas qualitative data describes. Examples of qualitative data are the Critic’s responses that are descriptive in nature and are generally more perspective or opinion based. In order to have consistent critiques we require a consistent method of measurement. Below is V-Rated’s rating scale with explanations of what 1 – 10 means to us. It might be a good idea to keep these in mind when you are checking out the venues on our site.

10 – Perfect

A score of 10 means that the item could not reasonably be improved upon in any meaningful way and that it met and exceeded the most discerning of expectations. This score should not be taken lightly and reserved only for items that are indeed perfect. Some adjectives that fit this score are: ideal, flawless, seamless, exact, precise, and refined.

9 – Excellent

An item that receives this rating essentially meets all of the Critic’s expectations and has no meaningful drawbacks. It would be difficult, although not impossible, for this item to be improved upon. Some adjectives that fit this score are: outstanding, exceptional, brilliant, magnificent, and wonderful.

8 – Very Good

To receive this rating the item would need to be superior in so many ways that its relatively few drawbacks are not very important. Some adjectives that fit this score are: great, impressive, lovely, delightful, talented, skillful, proficient and terrific.

7 – Good

At this rating the item’s strengths outweigh its weaknesses but they cannot be ignored and there would be certain clients who would want to be aware of the item’s faults. Some adjectives that fit this score are: fine, good quality, respectable, pleasant, enjoyably, satisfactory, agreeable, nice, capable, and competent.

6 – Fair

This rating represents something that is average; its strengths and weaknesses balance each other making it adequate but not standout. Some adjectives that fit this score are: adequate, average, reasonable, decent, moderate, modest, okay, and unimpressive.

5 – Mediocre

An item that scores at this level is barely average in the negative sense. The weaknesses are enough that they dampen any strengths. If there was a better option available it would be advisable to take it. Some adjectives that fit this score are: ordinary, second-rate, pedestrian, commonplace, dull, uninspired, and everyday.

4 – Poor

An item with this rating may have some positive qualities but overall lacks any cohesive or consistent quality that would warrant it a higher rating. Some adjectives that fit this score are: meager, pitiable, inferior, inadequate, insignificant, faulty, defective, flawed, and unsatisfactory.

3 - Very Poor

An item that scores at this level has few, if any, positive qualities. Some adjectives that fit this score are: substandard, low-grade, shoddy, careless, sloppy and lousy.

2 – Terrible

An item that receives this rating did not meet any reasonable, or even lowered, expectations. There are no meaningful strengths and it would be difficult to think of a worse outcome. Some adjectives that fit this score are: awful, dreadful, appalling, horrible, horrendous, shocking, and grave.

1 – Abysmal

Just when you thought an item couldn’t score lower than Terrible another expectation was not met or another weakness shown which warrants rating it as abysmal. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities at this rating. Some adjectives that fit this score are: inexcusable, atrocious, unspeakable, sickening, disgusting, outrageous, repulsive, filthy and revolting.
